2022 Royal College of Occupational Therapists survey reveals huge spike in demand for OT Rehabilitation services across the UK

A recent survey undertaken by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), shows an incredible surge in demand for Occupational Therapy (OT) rehabilitation since winter 2021; a staggering 71% of those respondents felt that there were simply not enough therapists to meet demand.

With the COVID pandemic having a significant impact on OT services, it is clear that therapists are now having to take on a much broader range of referrals, which is adding to the already overstretched service across the nation. In addition, the pandemic has also negatively affected staff absence levels, with over 40% of survey respondents highlighting this as a reason why they are unable to meet the ever-growing demand.

Xyla Health and Social Services are well-placed to help alleviate the ever-growing backlog of Occupational Therapy referrals and are currently partnering with a number of Local Authorities and Trusts to provide support services.  We provide quality outsourced services to manage front-door referrals, backlogs and waiting lists for OT Assessments on a case-by-case basis and support in offering guaranteed timescales and acceptance rates.

Our focus is always on providing quality outcomes for the client and the individuals – we provide dedicated Quality Assurance leads on all projects to ensure assessments are completed to high standards and as a result have a 93% acceptance on first submission rate across our Adult projects. In addition to this, we offer a fixed cost per assessment based on an agreed volume of cases, timescales and processes, allowing clear budgeting and planning for the future.
