2022 Royal College of Occupational Therapists survey reveals huge spike in demand for OT Rehabilitation services across the UK
A recent survey undertaken by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), shows an incredible surge in demand for Occupational Therapy (OT) rehabilitation since winter 2021; a staggering 71% of those respondents felt that there were simply not enough therapists to meet demand.
With the COVID pandemic having a significant impact on OT services, it is clear that therapists are now having to take on a much broader range of referrals, which is adding to the already overstretched service across the nation. In addition, the pandemic has also negatively affected staff absence levels, with over 40% of survey respondents highlighting this as a reason why they are unable to meet the ever-growing demand.
Xyla Health and Social Services are well-placed to help alleviate the ever-growing backlog of Occupational Therapy referrals and are currently partnering with a number of Local Authorities and Trusts to provide support services.
