Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

Following the announcement from The Government in April 2023 to further delay the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) to January 2025 at the earliest we understand that a number of Local Authorities will be reviewing and focusing on their DoLS service with the aim of making it more manageable, whilst mitigating potential risks.

Xyla Health & Social Services have worked in partnership with Local Authorities since 2015 and are a market leader in the provision of Deprivation of Liberty and Safeguarding (DoLS) services, supporting with the completion of both Mental Health and Best Interests Assessments.

During this period, we have completed over 16,000 DoLS assessments across the UK, with 93% of these being accepted on first submission. All assessments are quality assured by one of our dedicated Quality Assurance Leads, ensuring legislation and client requirements are met. As part of our managed service approach, we screen all cases and on average identify 20% of cases to no longer require an assessment.
